Can You Bring Nicotine Pouches on a Plane?

Between the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules, luggage limits, and international travel regulations, catching a flight can come with a lot of questions. Is my checked bag too heavy? How much liquid am I allowed in my carry-on? What do I take out of my bag when going through security?

While all valid, there’s another question that’s become increasingly common for adult nicotine users who are getting ready for their next trip: Can you take nicotine pouches, like ZYN, on a plane with you?

The good news is that yes, you can! Whether you’re traveling within the US or internationally, most airlines now permit nicotine pouches in your carry-on or checked bag—however in-flight use and if the nicotine pouches are allowed at your destination can be a different story and may require some follow ups before you fly.

Traveling Within the US

The TSA does not place restrictions on smokeless nicotine or tobacco products—so nicotine pouches are generally allowed in both carry-on and checked bags within the United States.

Due to their format, nicotine pouches don’t need to be packed in a special way (i.e. a liquids bag). There’s also no specified limit on the number of cans you can bring with you if they’re for personal use, but keep in mind that carrying excessive amounts could raise suspicion of reselling.*

*It’s a serious legal offense to resell these products, especially in states where they’re banned. Doing so can result in fines, probation, or in serious cases, jail time.

Airline Rules on Nicotine Pouches (2025)

Before you jet off, make sure to double check your airline’s rules—while possession is allowed, in-flight use may not be. When in doubt, always consult with the airline directly beforehand.

Can You Fly Internationally with ZYNs & Nicotine Pouches?

Many travelers ask about the legality of taking nicotine pouches on their trip. Unfortunately, this is not a one-size-fits-all answer. Each country has their own rules and regulations when it comes to nicotine pouches that’s worth looking into.
